How did you hone your craft?
Following five years of working with dogs full-time, studying canine behavior, and taking on an apprenticeship, I passed the Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA®) exam. It measures a broad range of knowledge and skills in ethology, learning theory, dog training technique, and instruction. The organization’s goal is to establish and maintain humane standards of competence for dog training and behavior professionals through criteria based on experience, standardized testing, skills, and continuing education. I established K9 Trix & Training in 2019 as a way of further pursuing my dream of having all my favorite aspects of life come together, such as meeting new people, working with dogs, and educating dog lovers. I enjoy sharing dog-related knowledge with anyone, and I am a person who is always up for a friendly chat!
What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?
Satisfaction between handler and dog is reciprocal. You must know how your dog will fit into your daily life to form a close bond, and you must be committed to providing the education they need. Since you and your dog are a team, both of your needs must be equally met. Apart from training together, I provide tips and tricks to help you better reconcile your daily life with your pup and help mutually adapt to a happy and content life.
What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!
I am left handed and was born on April 1st.
