The Dog Chick Dog Training & Behavior Modification - Huntington Station, NY
As a Certified Canine Behavior Specialist & Certified Professional Trainer for over 30 years, there isn’t a situation that I cannot handle.
I specialize in fear and aggression.
Behavior modification and training are two different entities as well as completely different courses of study.
I teach basic & advanced obedience, AKC Canine Good Citizen, STAR puppy, Urban Canine and Community Canine. I am a Certified AKC Testing Evaluator & Instructor.
In addition I train Service Dogs and Therapy Dogs.
The key to success is using positive motivational methods and having a true understanding of dogs.
Behavior Modification is completely different than training. Behavior Modification requires the study and understanding of the brain, how it works and how it effects the behavior of a dog. Many dog owners, veterinarians, shelter and rescue people are under the impression that simply because a dog is growling, showing teeth, lunging, nipping and even biting are all “aggression”. When in reality these behaviors are communication skills. Dog’s will usually exhibit many of these behaviors in order to prevent a conflict, however when another dog or person doesn’t understand the message this is when there is trouble. With my extensive education and experience in this field the results can be very rewarding. Behavior can not be guaranteed 100% due to the multitude of variables involved, but you will always get some positive changes. The changes require the commitment of the dog owner and the relationship between the owner and myself. When we work together success can be achieved.

Do not let anger or frustration be your guide. Dog’s like children have to be taught to live in our world. Kindness is the key to success. If you have a situation do no go on the internet, do not ask friends and family. Find a certified trainer or certified behavior specialist who utilizes positive reinforcement methods only.
What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!
I have dedicated my life to solving problems and teaching a better way. I have worked with some very frightened reactive dogs. The key to my success is proper education, experience and an overall love for animals.
