Sunrise Chiropractic - Animal Chiropractor - Farmington, NM
Dr. Beth Davis, said it's important for pets to have a Veterinarian exam. Most of her referrals come from area Veterinarian’s, she said. According to New Mexico state law, chiropractic, acupuncture and physical therapy on an animal must be performed with the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Dr. Beth Davis. D.C. said she adheres to the law and practices only on dogs, though chiropractic services are available for other animals.
Dr. Beth Davis, D.C. said she has been using chiropractic treatment for dogs since 1982, the same year she started practicing on people. While working as a clinician at Cleveland Chiropractic College and as a student she had an opportunity to work with many patients from the Braille Institute of North America, in Los Angeles, CA. At that time all the patients from the Braille Institute had guide dogs, or “seeing-eye dogs.” Most of the dogs from the Braille Institute that came thru the clinic yelped with pain at the base of the neck once their harness was removed. Other aches and pains were also noted. Dog loving chiropractic students formed a group, assessing chiropractic and canine care, hoping to enable the seeing-eye dogs maintain their job duties without being distressed. •
• Yelping in pain after a sudden movement when no other symptoms are present
• Weak front legs
• Weak back legs and unable to climb steps
• Yelping or biting when being picked up
• Hunched back can’t hold neck up
• Muscle spasms along the back and tender areas when stroking your pet
• Hip pain in the hind legs with no sign of canine arthritis
• Trouble standing or laying down
• Inability to jump
• General change in activity that use to be fun for your pet
The techniques, manipulation or trigger point pressure massage will differ to the size, extent of the injury, arthropathies and tolerance of the patients. Patient response variability is the reason why procedures are always done in a Veterinarian’s office. If you think your dog is a good candidate or you want more information please feel free to review your questions with my office and with your Veterinarian. Please contact and book me on Petworks. Thank you.
