Don't Blame The Dog - Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultant - Mountain Lakes, NJ
As well as being an occupational therapist, I am a dog behavior consultant who has been working with a service dog trainer and dog behaviorist for 5 years.
I have been involved with training personal dogs whom have behavior issues with great success.
I have also been involved with service dog training (ie. the dog as well as training the recipients), service dog evaluations and placements as well as follow-up visits to fine tune issues.
I have handled a service dog in an elementary school for children on the autism spectrum and/or behavior issues during OT tx session.
I have given presentations to the public regarding dog behavior and answers to common issues.
My occupational therapy education as experience has been extremely beneficial in assessing issues as well as developing training plans.
I can modify a dog's behavior by teaching owners how to communicate with their dog in a way the dog understands. Dogs are happy to change their behaviors once they trust their owners.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
